Drawback: Songshard Affliction is progressive and terminal. Each time you use Songshard Surge, crystalline growths spread deeper toward your vital organs. The Director tracks your affliction's advance: early uses bring only visible mutations - darkened veins, glittering nodules beneath the skin, eyes laced with black light. As the affliction worsens, your vitality erodes (your number of Recoveries is permanently reduced). Eventually you will not survive another respite unless the drakonium is purged by extraordinary means — powerful magic, dangerous surgery, or worse.
